Join us for a cozy pre-Valentine’s winter weekend in New York City. Hold Me Tight® Couples Workshop is based on the research and practices of Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT). The Hold Me Tight® program for couples, developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, is an experiential, educational workshop designed to help you strengthen your emotional and physical connection with your romantic partner.
This educational and experiential workshop teaches you the core concepts of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, which has demonstrated its effectiveness in over 25 years of peer-reviewed clinical research. The workshop helps you and your partner form deeper connections, repair past hurts, and increase opportunities for emotional, physical and sexual intimacy.
In addition to practicing new ways of communicating emotionally with your partner, you will see video examples of other couples and how they learned to improve their communication and strengthen their relationship.
You will experience together how to:
- Recognize underlying reasons for your conflicts
- Heal past relationship injuries
- Better understand your own emotional triggers and intimacy needs
- Recognize and understand your partner’s emotional triggers
- Learn how to respond to your partner’s needs
- Improve emotional communication so that you can tell your partner what you need
- Increase feelings of trust and intimacy, playfulness and fun
- Deepen your emotional, physical and sexual connection
As a mental health professional, psychotherapist or relationship counselor, this couples workshop offers you a unique and powerful opportunity to:
- Enhance intimacy in your relationship while learning about the principles of EFT
- Interact with other therapist/non-therapist couples in a safe and supportive learning environment
- Experience the benefit of the EFT approach in your own relationship.
- Learn, experientially, how to facilitate Hold Me Tight®
While sharing comments and questions in the large group is usually fun and beneficial, you only share if you want to. You will have lots of time to have conversations with just you and your partner so you can feel comfortable and maintain your privacy.
- All couples are welcome in this couples workshop regardless of marital status, age, faith or sexual orientation.
- This is and educational workshop and supports therapy nicely but does not replace it if your relationship is in high distress.
Zoya and Mike often present together and enjoy creating a safe, fun, meaningful experience where we’ll encourage you to go as deep as is comfortable… “Stretch – don’t strain” is our motto here. Join us as we navigate the EFT journey through our own hearts. It will not only cultivate more connection in your relationship but will also positively impact your work with couples as well.

Preparing for the workshop
In preparation for the workshop, we recommend that you purchase and begin reading the book that the workshop is based upon: “Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love” by Dr. Sue Johnson. We have found that couples who have read at least part of the book (the first four chapters is a good start) feel like they are stepping into the workshop with some helpful background, and can dig into the material that much more readily.
If you have additional questions or any special needs, do not hesitate to contact us at (917) 922-9601 or firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can help to make your workshop experience with us most comfortable.
